AIDSLifecycle – Gear Truck A #224

View AIDSLifeCycle in a larger mapOkay …..so the audio blog seems to be offline ….

Yet, Jackson (thanks to Rabiah) is working on a solution (perhaps, I can speak to you by closing ceremonies).

For now, I’ll just sit on the back of this 24′ Ryder truck that carries:
7 tons of luggage (approximately 200 bags, 100 tents, and three crew members) from camp site to camp site.
Lucky for me, ….they also have a laptop.

Anyhow …

It’s AIDSLifecycle Day Five.
About 3 hours ago, I arrived in Lompoc. And I’m dying to eat ANYTHING (If you can Fed Ex a Mission District Burrito to Ventura ..do it!).

Kyle hasn’t been seen all day. However, I’m sure that Kyle came in “in the top 2.”

Shiv is gleaming as ever. . ….
Her ankle has somewhat healed.
Her bike is still in one piece.
She finished off the day.
And the two of us spent some time talking in nature.

After a hard days work, AIDS Life Cyclist, Shiv

Saw Ciara this morning.
She’s definitely “alive and kicking”.
Ciara, a first time AIDSLifecycle Cyclist, has done a very impressive job.
When I spoke with her this morning she stated, “no one can imagine this experience. One would have to experience it to understand.”

Ciara and Tony rest in camp

Last year, upon my return home from AIDSLifecycle #3, Ciara told me “next year, I’m going!” It’s a f**king pleasure to see her “perform.”

Last night, my tentmate, Jens & I had our first “argument on the ride”.
It amazes me that we’ve put up with each other so long.
However, now we have a bigger challenge .. . called “TOMORROW!”

7 days in a tent with a fellow cyclist; cycling in warm temperatures; climbing every mountain’ stopping to fix flats; having a latte (only once); seeing old & new faces; hearing others’ stories; and checking out the boys (smile) …I’m having a great time!

Yet! Has anyone seen Oprah?

Tomorrow, I will be cycling through the city of Santa Barabara. As I cycle, I will chant, I will think of Oprah Winfrey, and I will wonder ….”where is she?”

I will arrive in Santa Barabara at about 10:00am. (That give Oprah plenty of time to warm up “the jet”). So do me a favor …send an invitation to Oprah Winfrey .. . .

(“The food ain’t AIDSLifecCycle Sponsor, Chef – Lisa Ruggieri Hines).

Traditionally, during meal times, I choose the vegetarian menu option. However, due to lack of protein in the vegetarian option, I have chosen the “meat option”

AIDSLifecycle Entertainment?
NO need for it .. I’m usually in bed by 8:00pm. .. Up at 4:30am. I’ll tell you the exact details when I return (smile).

Out of time .. Now, go write to Oprah Winfrey and tell her to warm up the jet!
