Iyengar Yoga Classes – San Francisco

Over the past 15 years. I have greatly appreciated the position of being both – a student of yoga & a hatha yoga teacher.

As a yoga student, I have found great joy in the practice of the second half of the “Ten Commandments” of Yoga, the Niyamas (Sanskrit: नियम). And therefore, I understand the importance of Svādhyāya (self-study or study of spiritual scriptures).

As a yoga teacher, I understand that a teacher’s purpose is to provide education & facilitate a student’s personal growth. Also, as a teacher, I am aware that in order to successfully plant the seed of self growth / empowerment within your students there must be the seed of “Svādhyāya” within yourself.

Applying “self study” to my karma yoga practice, “I give service spontaneously to those who ask & closely watch their responses & my reactions .. ….”

Applying the “study of the spiritual scriptures” to my Jnana yoga practice, I often crack open the Tibetan Book of the Dead. And then, “all is well.”

And to confront my challenges in my hatha yoga practice, “I bounce around and visit various yoga teachers & yoga studios while listening closely to each individual’s teachings. (And occasionally, I invite my students to bounce around with me).

(Yes! My students & I are going on another field trip …)

Yet, this time, you too are invited.
So come join in!
And after wards, perhaps, we’ll have lunch together?
