Iyengar Yoga Class – Christmas Day

In November 2008, as I was looking at the “Grotto” (community space) of Sports Basement, a light bulb went on. And, I began to ponder over the idea of using Sports Basement’s community space to serve the yoga community. So to get the ball rolling, I began to teach free yoga classes each Sunday at Sports Basement.

A month later, I organized Sports Basement’s first yoga teacher schedule, began the internet promotions, and then watched the yoga students arrive. Since that time, I have pondered over “what else can I do to be of service to the San Francisco Yoga Community.”

In December 2009, I was approached by representatives of the Gray Area Foundation for the Arts (Gabriel Dunne, Stephanie Sherriff, and Josette Melchor ). And after a brief meeting, we all agreed on introducing “donation based yoga classes” to the tenderloin community.

Therefore, in January 2010, each Monday night, students of the tenderloin community were invited to attend yoga classes regardless of their finances – making yoga accessible & affordable to every individual regardless of finances.

And now, continuing to make yoga accessible to each and every individual regardless of sexual orientation, race, physical shape, or financial status, I invite you to practice yoga on Xmas Day, 25 December 2010.
