05 June 2006 – 6:30am – Day Zero
– The Day of Registration
Good Morning,
As I sit here (in the SF Mission District)
watching the sun rise, I begin to smile.
First, I must thank the (approximate) 2,000
cyclist, 400 crewmembers, Cheerleaders, Parents, Friends, Family,
Stephan Cadby,
Susan Parish,
Ben Armstrong,
Maya Angelou, Sports Basement – SF,
Ginger,
The Chicken Lady, and
my number one fan. Without you
all, this event wouldn’t be the same. . . . … ..
Secondly, I must thank my personal sponsors:
Bella Cucina Catering,
Soulcraft Bikes,
Fat Tire Beer,
Continetal Catering,
the Senior Teachers of the Ivengar Yoga Institute,
KRD – Kyle Rich Bike Frames,
Satori Yoga Studio, James
Howell Studio, Jason Collard,
Michael Stokes, "Team Brazil,"
the Atlas Cafe, "The Boys of Mike’s
Bikes – Sausalito," and my friends and family . . . without your nickels and
dimes, I’d still be out there fundraising. .. . .
At the age of 44, I am so thankful to have the
ability to participate in my 9th AIDS Ride. And as Day 1 approaches, I
ponder over new challenges that may arise.
I’m so happy that I could cry.
And … . . ., I’m a bit scared.
Yet, regardless of what occurs during this seven
day journey, I will do my best to stay strong, live long, keep my wit, have fun,
and stay focused on "my intentions."
With each journey comes a new experience.
This year, I will be traveling the journey with
"Norwegian
Cruisliner" . Thomas Hellivig,
"My Bro" – Nate
Maton-Parkinson,
"My Cycling Mentor"
– Kyle Rich,
"My No.1 Bike Tech." – American Cyclery – Tyson
and hopefully
Stay tuned .. I’ll be back. Check out this year’s ride at: AIDS LifeCycle-2006 Live Webcast
Wishing the best of all possible
worlds,
