Karma Yoga

Karma Yoga

For the past 15 years, I have walked the path of a Yogi – striving to be unmoved by external forces; to be of the world but not in the world; to develop a sense of pratayahara; to devote myself to selfless service; to reach for a state of “kaivalya.”

Yet as a human being, one is confronted with many trials & tribulations, successes, failures, apiphanies, and miracles. And yesterday, I was confronted with (perhaps one of the deepest emotional pains one can endure) the ending of a romantic relationship.

So that brings us to the question – “how does one walk forward?” And the answer – (the same answer as it always has been for me) – “through the continued practice of Yoga.” B.K.S. Iyengar states that “one must go through the pain.”

And so – yesterday, as I walked through San Francisco’s Mission District, I set at the Revolution Cafe. And as I sipped a Fat Tire Beer, I overheard a conversation. And, a smile came to lips. I found yet another opportunity to continue with my path – an opportunity to practice Karma Yoga. Check this out:
