Oprah Winfrey – Happy Birthday

Oprah Winfrey Network

Happy Birthday Oprah Winfrey

January 29th brought us Jonny Lang, Andrew Keegan, Heather Graham, Greg Luouganis, Teresa Teng, and W.C. Fields. Yet who would have every thought – we would be graced with the birth of Oprah Winfrey.

Oprah Gail Winfrey (born January 29, 1954) is the American multiple-Emmy Award winning host of The Oprah Winfrey Show, the highest rated talk show in television history. She is also an influential book critic, an Academy Award-nominated actress, and publisher of The Oprah Magazine She has been ranked the most philanthropic African American of all time. Yet in my mind, she is a Karma Yogini.

In 1998, Oprah Winfrey began Oprah’s Angel Network, a charity aimed at encouraging people around the world to make a difference in the lives of underprivileged others. Accordingly, Oprah’s Angel Network supports charitable projects and provides grants to nonprofit organizations around the world that share this vision. To date, Oprah’s Angel Network has raised more than $51,000,000 ($1 million of which was donated by Jon Bon Jovi). Winfrey personally covers all administrative costs associated with the charity, so 100% of all funds raised go to charity programs.

Through her selfless acts of kindness, Oprah Winfrey has relieved the suffering of others. She donated $10,000,000 assist those who ezperienced hardship during Katrina. She is a front runner in the fight against AIDS in Africa and the plight of young children affected by poverty and AIDS. With every breath in her body,” she has pledged to “move heaven and earth” and protect children from the evils of society. And Oprah has personally donated more of her own money to charity than any other show-business celebrity in America.

Recently, Oprah Winfrey has stated, “I never had children, never even thought I would have children. Now I have 152 daughters; expecting 75 more next year. That is some type of gestation period…I said to the mothers, the family members, the aunts, the grannies — because most of these girls have lost their families, their parents — I said to them, “Your daughters are now my daughters and I promise you I’m going to take care of your daughters. I promise you.”

A great role model for the African American Community. A woman who is in tune with her “dharma” & her heart. A great example of “karma yoga in action.”
A gift.

Thank You!
Happy Birthday Oprah Winfrey!
