There are individuals that refer to themselves as a yogi / yogini;
There are those who practice “Hatha Yoga” yet state they “Do Yoga”.
And there are those who are oblivious to the many components encompassed within the practice of “YOGA.”
“Not only has there been a reversal of Hatha Yoga and Yoga, whereby Hatha Yoga (the “part”) has been labeled as “Yoga” (the “whole”), but the whole process and scope of Yoga has been effected in our collective perceptions of Yoga.” – Swami Jnaneshvara Bharati
- Kundalini is a part.
- Laya is a part.
- Mantra is a part.
- Nada is a part.
- Raja is a part.
- Tantra is a part.
- Bhakti is a part.
- Hatha is a part.
- Jnana is a part.
- Karma is a part.
And then there’s are individuals which become seasoned in several components or parts of “yoga.”
Recently, A “Karma Yogini” [one who practices yoga of selfless (altruistic) service] sent me an email – CHECK IT OUT!

Iyengar Yoga Class Level 1-2
“For students who have a solid understanding of the fundamental poses taught in Level 1 along with a base of strength and flexibility from regular attendance. In this class, students will deepen their understanding of the mind-body connection in an expanded study of foundational poses including standing twists, backbends, and headstand. Students should begin to recognize the Sanskrit names. Mastery of class levels 1 and 1-2 ensures a safe and steady progression to intermediate level beginning with Level 2. Students typically spend 1 to 2-years at this level.”
10:00 – 12:00 noon.
Iyengar Yoga Class Level 3- 4
“Teacher’s permission is required to attend this class. Students should have a deep, long-standing and sustained practice of Iyengar Yoga. Having built physical capacity, mental concentration, and emotional stability in previous levels, this class consolidates the student’s understanding while introducing more intensified arm balances, abdominal poses, classic forward bends, and body knotting. Practical philosophy and pranayama are a regular part of the learning and study at this level.”
