Now that you have chosen your CMS Platform, you’re probably excited to start creating website pages & uploading photo images ….. Yet, “slow your roll!”

  • Before creating your web pages, sit down and write out how your website will be presented. The basic site hierarchy that benefits your SEO architecture efforts the most is to link from your home page to your most important category pages; then your category pages link to sub-category pages; then those sub-category pages link to product pages.
  • After figuring out your site architecture; write the text content for each individual web page.  Make sure to include targeted key words within your  text content.  Keep in mind that the broader your keywords are, the more competition there is for them! Long-tail keywords might produce less traffic but they drive a more targeted visitor.

How to optimize for high Google Search Engine Rankings ……

  • Title tag: Adjust the tag to add relevant key word topics.
  • Description tag: Same as the title. You can generally work in a lot more key words here than you can in the title. Be descriptive and compelling.
  • Headings: Usa a <H1> heading tag which includes key words that are relevant to your topic. Don’t do a lot of keyword stuffing in your headings, but use them as it makes sense.
  • Content: Rewrite website content to work in relevant keywords.  Keywords should represent approx. 2 – 10% of your content per page.
  • Internal linking: Link to other areas of your website from within your content. Link keywords relevant to other content, informational and product web pages.
  • Images: Use the ALT attribute for your images & use keywords as the alt atributes.
  • Code: Streamline your code. Reduce the amount of code on the page by eliminating unnecessary tables, JavaScripts, CSS and whatever else that might help you increase your web page’s download speed.
