Over the past 15 years. I have greatly appreciated the position of being both – a student of yoga & a hatha yoga teacher.<\/p>\n

As a yoga student, I have found great joy in the practice of the second half of the “Ten Commandments” of Yoga, the Niyamas (Sanskrit: \u0928\u093f\u092f\u092e). And therefore, I understand the importance of Sv\u0101dhy\u0101ya<\/a> (self-study or study of spiritual scriptures).<\/p>\n

As a yoga teacher, I understand that a teacher’s purpose is to provide education & facilitate a student’s personal growth. Also, as a teacher, I am aware that in order to successfully plant the seed of self growth \/ empowerment within your students there must be the seed of “Sv\u0101dhy\u0101ya<\/a>” within yourself.<\/p>\n

Applying “self study” to my karma yoga<\/a> practice, “I give service spontaneously to those who ask & closely watch their responses & my reactions .. ….”<\/p>\n

Applying the “study of the spiritual scriptures” to my Jnana yoga<\/a> practice, I often crack open the Tibetan Book of the Dead<\/a>. And then, “all is well.”<\/p>\n

And to confront my challenges in my hatha yoga<\/a> practice, “I bounce around and visit various yoga teachers<\/a> & yoga studios<\/a> while listening closely to each individual’s teachings. (And occasionally, I invite my students to bounce around with me).<\/p>\n

(Yes! My students & I are going on another field trip …)<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Yet, this time, you too are invited.

And after wards, perhaps, we’ll have lunch together?<\/p>\n
