In the early years, I took my yoga classes at 24hr Hour Fitness.  And therefore, when the yoga studio was vacant, I could be found conducting my personal yoga practice within the large, clean, quite and safe group exercise \/ yoga studio. <\/p>\n

Yet on one occasion; things did not go as planned!<\/p>\n

I entered the empty yoga studio.
I rolled out my mat. 
I sat quietly in Virasana.<\/p>\n

And then, a woman in heels entered the room.
The stereo was turned on.
And as the Salsa music began; the woman danced around the group exercise studio.<\/p>\n

At first, I was appalled by her actions.
I could not understand,  “How can she dance to blaring music while I’m sitting quietly in Virasana?”
And then I realized, “Why can’t I practice hatha yoga while she’s dancing to salsa music?”<\/p>\n

So, I continued with my yoga practice.<\/p>\n

You see; Yoga teaches us to “not be moved by external forces.”   Regardless of distractions; one should remain focused. <\/p>\n

So, I invite you to step out of the comfort zone of a yoga studio. I invite you to not be moved by the distractions.  I invite you to develop your sense of pratyahara [the 5th Step on the Yogic Path].<\/p>\n
