Today, as I walked to get my morning coffee, I noticed a KTVU TV 2<\/span><\/a> News Camera. So, I ventured over to check out all the commotion.  And then, It became apparent that a possible “hate incident” had occurred in the San Francisco Mission District @ 24th Street & Bryant St.<\/p>\n

“A hate incident is any non-criminal act, including words, directed against a person(s) based on that person(s) actual or perceived race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation, disability or gender.<\/i><\/p>\n

Hate incidents include, but are not limited to, epithets, distribution of hate material that does not result in property damage, and the display of offensive material on one\u2019s own property.<\/i><\/div>\n
Not all incidents of hatred are crimes. Verbal name calling, although offensive, is not a crime. For this to be a crime, it must be accompanied by a viable threat of violence and ability to carry the threat out. In order to categorize this as a hate crime, the crime committed against the victim must be in whole or in part prejudice-based.”<\/i><\/p>\n

So I read the [above] graffiti message  And as I returned home with my coffee, I pondered over the ideas<\/p><\/div>\n

1.   “IS THIS REALLY HAPPENING?’
2.  “HOW CAN WE DIFFUSE HATE WITH COMPASSION?” <\/p>\n

3.  “WHAT WOULD DOLORES HUERTA<\/a> SAY? <\/p>\n
