On Friday, 26 June 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled [Obergefell v. Hodges] that same-sex couples can marry nationwide, establishing a new civil right. The court ruled that the denial of marriage licenses to same-sex couples violates the Due Process and Equal Protection clauses of the Fourteenth Amendment of the Untied States Constitution.
