Laughing Lotus – Donation Yoga Teacher

Being a student of yoga, I have studied the Yoga Sutras. And therefore, I understand the importance of “Savadhyaya ” So, in hopes of enriching “my” hatha yoga knowledge, I visit various yoga studios within the San Francisco Yoga Community. And while visiting, I embrace the teaching of a wide range of hatha yoga styles & yoga teachers (Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Bikram, Iyengar, Sivananda, Integral, Anursara, etc.) .

Recently, I have found great joy in attending the Vinyasa / Donation Yoga Class at San Francisco’s Laughing Lotus Center. And being that the Laughing Lotus yoga classes are taught by “blossoming yoga teachers,” I use each class as an opportunity to receive “NEW KNOWLEDGE” and/or perhaps, an opportunity to experience new ways of teaching the old traditions.

On a few occasions, I was introduced to Laughing Lotus “Blossoming Teacher,” Deena Aranoff.

And after experiencing her yoga class, I pondered over:

Q. What draws myself and others to the yoga classes of Deena Aranoff?

A. Deena has embraced the purpose of a yoga teacher.

Q. What is the purpose of a yoga teacher?

A. A yoga teacher’s purpose is not the ranting of various yoga sequences and/or the demonstrations of their favorite asanas but to provide each & every student with the necessary TOOLS to empower each & every student (via the control of the physical body, the breath, and the mind)

A yoga teacher should facilitate education for each individual student.

And as I left the yoga studio, I pondered over:

Q. Why isn’t the most knowledgeable (from my experience) & engaging Laughing Lotus Teacher on the Laughing Lotus Center Weekly Yoga Schedule?

A. Perhaps, because the owners need to be reminded of “the gem” that is sitting within their community?

SO .. . . . .

  • I invite you to experience something “fresh” …
  • I invite you to support the efforts of a Laughing Lotus “up & coming” knowledgeable yoga teacher …
  • I invite you to “pay what you can afford” & support donation yoga classes (while also supporting Laughing Lotus’ Monthly San Francisco Bay Area Charity.
On Thursday, Deena will return to the Laughing Lotus. So let’s practice some karma yoga and fill up the yoga studio with yogis & yoginis – providing her with a warm welcome back & a big surprise …. …..
UPDATE! Deena now has her own yoga class slot at the Laughing Lotus. Beginning, 02 August 2011, each Tuesday at 8:15pm. So go check out one of the most knowledgeable upcoming yoga teachers. For more details, check the Laughing Lotus schedule

If you can’t make it – SEND THREE FRIENDS (AND PASS THE WORD) .. … .. And as you enter the yoga studio, look in the far right corner, I’ll be sitting in Siddhasana – See ya there (smile) ….
